We ate there for breakfast - we got blueberry pancakes w/ tofu scramble as well as ackee with banana and yams. The blueberry pancakes were very good - not fluffy, but they had a great flavor. The ackee itself was very good, but the banana and yams, which were both cooked were not my favorite. We also got an extra side of the tofu scramble, which was very good. We also got tea and coffee. Our breakfast was $30, which I thought was kind of expensive, but it was very good. The service was stellar - everyone was very nice and attentive. Would go again, I would just order differently. They had lots of juices and smoothies I wish I would have known about before I ordered.

Super cool place! I love the atmosphere. I had the Sweet BBQ Ribs Special. It was amazing!!! The Rice was delicious it had some fruit or raisins in it , i wanted seconds. Even though the servings are awesome. Check this place out! and Hakin is a cutie ladies!!!

Don't let the strip mall-esque facade of Hakin's restaurant dissuade you from eating here, his vegan breakfast is amazing! I had the blueberry pancakes with tofu scramble, which was delicious. Hakin served us and explained the philosophy behind his cooking, which includes sourcing locally grown, natural ingredients. The food was dirt cheap and I left feeling good, not bloated. If you come here DO give yourself time ... the food took a while to come out, even though the place was empty ... but well worth the wait!!

The food is good, but needs more portions.

Wow...we really like this place! We just recently started eating vegan, and this place seems like it's going to help us stick to it with more ease. We had the rib sandwich was was delicious, the baarbecue rib dinner, also great, and two empanadas. I felt like I was eating meat...it tasted like real barbecue beef and even the texture was sooo similar. Definitely going back for dinner, and we're looking forward to trying the breakfast, too! We ordered through the grubhub.com site and our order was ready fo pick up as planned. No problems:-)

WE LOVE YOU HAKIN! The chocolate cake here is alone worth the visit! Every time I'm in Florida I make sure to hit up this spot. The menu changes daily and entrees are served with a nice little side salad. They also serve breakfast...the pancakes are decent but I'm biased since I believe I make the best vegan pancakes around;) The philly cheese steak is tasty and the portions are always a decent size. The service is excellent and we are always greeted with big smiles. I recommend this place to all my vegan familia visiting the area=) See you soon Hakin and friends!

If you're a vegetarian, you can't miss this place! My five stars is definitely centered around the food and service because if you can't handle a little bit of a dive this isn't the place to eat for you. When I found the little place sometime during the lunch hour I walked in and was instantly greeted by Preston, one of the family members who keep this place going. When I asked about their menu he went into great detail, explaining all of their dishes. He also explained the pricing depending on size. After I ordered my meal to go I sat down to wait. During this time Preston brought me several samples of different menu items. I've never seen such a thing. Everything he brought was great, definitely a good way to get people to come back for more. After I tried my samples I walked around and looked at the different organic items they sell. This varies from foods to lotions. Preston continued to assist me in this. The place is pretty small and very simple but it's clean and I wouldn't mind eating there. When I got my food, it was amazing! I could hardly believe it wasn't real meat. It was thick and flavorful. I had seen this place before (while passing 163rd on 95), but when I was recommended by a friend of mine I decided it was time to go. Glad I did! Please give this place a try. The family who owns it puts a great deal of effort into making this food absolutely delicious. Also, it's vegetarian food that won't leave you hungry!

July 21st, 2009 My husband and I tried the Vegan Restaurant for first time, very casual, fast friendly service, both had "beef" dinners with seasoned rice and baked plantains......wanted to lick the plates...... really great tastes, we were pleasently surprised at the beef, so easy to believe you're eating tender, well seasoned beef! took home a zucchini bread loat, oh.oh.....wonderful We will be regulars - what a great jewel in a little strip mall.......

This is a great place to grab lunch, and a break from the Chinese restaurants lining 163rd. Wednesdays are the best when they serve chick pea curry. The imitation meat is hit or miss, but the vegan chocolate cake makes up for it.

I signed up for yelp just to review this place. Fresh off the airboat from detroit, we landed in this place by serendipity. I am in LOVE with this place. The owner was super friendly, the place is very clean. And the food- oh my god. Amazingly yummy. I had the lunch special with the soy chunks and veggie 'fish' curry , cabbage, and bulgur. It was mind blowing . I had this awesome pineapple-ginger juice and the sugarcane juice, and finished off with the vegan chocolate cake. The food was out of this world. Will definitely come back here. 5+++ stars

A lot of this has been said. This little place is easy to miss. And inside is eclectic to say the least. Mainly a restaurant, they have a little shop set up inside too, they also have juice, there are signs recommending healthy living seminars, I think I saw books, a coin operated massage chair . . . . there's a lot going on! But I go for the food, so about that. Everything I have tried so far is very tasty, and very, very healthy. I don't eat fake meat usually, but theirs is actually very good. (Still tastes nothing like meat to me, but whatever it tastes like, I like it.) The daily special usually has beans, quinoa, "meat," salad, and some sort of stew. As much as I enjoy it, it is really feeding vegetarians. Omnivores will be OK here if they are very open minded, but many of my friends would be unhappy. I don't see it as a downside - this place caters to meat eaters the way a churrascaria caters to vegans. So this spot will remain my non-guilty secret spot to eat when I don't have to worry about anyone else. Maybe my favorite thing about this restaurant is that every staff member smiles at me every time. Not a "my manager tells me to smile" smile, but a sincere, authentic smile. In Miami, it can be a little startling to have someone smile at you and actually mean it. That spirit is worth the price of admission.

I've never had the opportunity to go into the restaurant, because I always place my Order for Delivery. The experience has always been pleasant, from taking my order over the phone, to quick delivery, friendly staff and great tasting food. There are days when my husband & I choose to abstain from eating Meat, and this is our first option for Veggie food. We don't miss a thing. My co-workers love it also. Great job guys!

This restaurant needs a new name! But the food is awesome and so are the people cooking and serving the food. It's vegan caribbean food- very yummy and they also make juice. Check out the plaque on the wall that explains why they don't serve animal products in their restaurant. =0)

Food is delicious! Friendly staff, great variety especially because it's vegan. I suggest the smoothies (monkey special), patties and the daily special (whatever day of the week it is-LOVED THE SOY CHUNKS). I can't wait to go again! Oh and the vegan dessert were also very tasty.

Hands down the best vegan restaurant I have been to since moving to S Florida. Very low key, fresh flavors in the food, high quality, and a juice bar. Will definitely be back.

I'd have given this 5 stars if the food was organic. Went there for an early lunch on Sunday, the food was DELICIOUS. The service was great, although unfortunately we were the only ones there at the time. This is so a place I'd love to see popular. The guys were so friendly, gave us samples of the juices to try. Wish I could try more of the items, but hopefully soon they will be adding more gluten-free items. The prices were amazing. The small plate $3.95 was actually just right for me - with tofu, a salad & some great green veggies. The juices were different because I'd never tried some of them before, but I enjoyed them & they even explained what each was good for - warming & digestion or cooling & detox. I will DEFINITELY go back.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I happened to stumble upon it when I was looking for a good veg restaurant to grab something for lunch that was near my fiance's work. Veg food in Miami is VERY hit or miss (mostly miss) so I walked in figuring I wouldn't be impressed. The reality was that I was blown away. I've been taken aback by a lot of upscale alternative lifestyle restaurants, but none that were normal affordable eateries with the exception of a specific few that are nowhere near Florida, haha. Hakin's food puts you in the position to be blown away because he knows spice and flavoring. It's truly the clean tasting soul food-ish vegetarian food that your mom never made you. The patties are sensational, and the portions are large. The mock meat is just... wow. Specifically the mock fish. Everyone I know goes "EEWW!" when mock meat is brought up, but those I've gotten to try the "fish" dinner has become addicted. I personally enjoy "upgrading" my meal, which means I get tofu in addition to the mock meat selection of the day. Trust me, it's worth it. I also have a huge affinity for the sandwiches. My beau loves the philly cheese steak and I love the salmon sandwich. The patties sell out pretty quickly. Most people prefer the spinach but it's too much spinach for me (and I love the stuff so I didn't think that was possible, lol) but the other two (specifically soy chunk) is amazing. He offers banana and zucchini bread- the zucchini bread is out of this world. Don't let the fact that it has zucchini it in throw you off. There's a series of freshly made desserts that are offered to polish off the meal but to be honest I normally get them to go because I end up so full... :) My favorite is the cheesecake. Juices, smoothies, and bottled water are also available to go with your meal. Hakin is super friendly and the down to earth feel of the place and wonderful food will keep me coming back for sure. P.S. It's actually all vegan! ;) +++ they have free wifi Movies are also playing every Saturday night at 8:30 pm so you can order sandwiches and hang out.

I went there for a CD release party held by Inga Ambrosia, a vegan friend. The restaurant is rustic, simple, plain - something you might find in a local place in St. Lucia, Bahamas or any of the islands. It is certainly nondescript with open metal shelves holding bananas, coconuts and other fruits for juicing. The food was served on plastic plates with plastic utensils (not so eco-friendly) and the cost was not cheap, although not expensive either. I expected organically grown everything, but this was not the case. I clicked on their website just now to refresh my memory, but the website is not completed. If you want vegan food, this is a good place. It is out of the way, near the I-95 on a busy street, but there's parking out front. When I went there, I drove by it a few times because there's only a small sign that says RESTAURANT out front and it's in a strip mall.

The food here tastes great and is well prepared and presented. You would never know you're eating vegetarian food. Plus everything they serve is naturally so much healthy than your standard fare. The restaurant has very simple decor, nothing fancy, and is combined with their food shop which has some very interesting items. It's a touch expensive for vegetarian food but the meal was so delicious it's hard for me to knock it for that. Plus the owner is committed to vegetarianism and veganism and is great to talk to about those subjects. Enjoy.

Huge portions of VERY tasty vegan food. I could eat here every day...and sometimes I do. The specials are priced very well and provide you with enough food for both lunch AND leftovers for dinner. The desserts are scrumptious. Cheesecake, carrot cake, banana bread..all amazing. If you think vegan/vegetarian food is just salads and water you are in for a BIG suprise. If no one told you, you wouldn't even realize that the steak isn't made from beef or the philly cheesesteak doesnt contain any meat or dairy. The vibe is very chill and relaxed and everyone wears a smile. Try the sorrell or any other juice combo and feel refreshed. The seasoned rice is one of my favorite things of all time. Priced right with massive portions of unbelievably tasty veg food make Hakin's one of my fave places to eat in South Florida. I will be a loyal customer, most likely, forever. I love Hakin's. The End.

Super friendly, some great options. Diner-centric so don't expect fancy. Definitely home grown good vegan food. Love the tiny store too. They juice too! That's a huge bonus - fresh juice. I like this little place. I'll come back.

Favorite spot for vegan grub in Miami. Be warned Yipsters (see what I did there?): it's not glossy, it's not trendy, it's not Jugofresh-esque - it's just a humble, working-class grub spot, and it's all healthy and good as f*ck! At the side of the store, there's a spot with local products, nuts, seeds; also supplements, bars, essential oils, natural body lotions, etc. I recommend the vegan cheesesteak sandwich and/or any of their vegan pizzas. The only downside is that the prices are pretty high, but it's vegan (mostly) and that is a given. Oh, and they don't deliver, unless it's over $50. Great potential, will be exciting to watch how this restaurant grows.

First time eating at this establishment. The menu choices were minimal but still a healthy selection. More choices with the juices. The staff was friendly and gave me a sample of today's special which tasted good. I opted for the Vietnamese chicken with basmati rice and a purée they was good. I would consider going back another time and try another dish.

Food and juice - amazing. I enjoyed the ackee empanada, meatless meatball special with brown rice and cabbage and a fresh glass of Tropical Sunrise! Delicious! My lunch date also enjoyed her vegetarian lasagna! Beautiful young, patient servers that were knowledgable of product. Owner, Hakin, dropped by to meet and greet. Too full for dessert but will return in future. And snagged a jar of raw honey for my morning smoothie! I think this is the beginning of a great relationship.

This is my favorite vegan restaurant. The menu is amazing that has so many options as well as daily specials. There are options for bbq short ribs -- but fully vegan and tasty. They also have a great selection of juices and smoothies including ones made with fresh sugar cane. Desserts such as vegan red velvet cupcakes are great too. The atmosphere is casual and usually the owner, Hakin, is there and always friendly and talkative and you can tell he is passionate about his restaurant. They also have a small market connected to the restaurant that sells staple vegan cooking items as well as vegan snacks. This is a place I love coming to whether by myself or with friends, I always feel happy when I'm there.

Excellent food and Hakin is a doll. Highly recommend this place! I got the Sunday special and my friend got the lasagna. I also got a spinach empanada. I will definitely go again.

Loved this place! Found it by accident. I'm not vegetarian but I enjoy healthy, wholesome meals and this is exactly what I got here. I got the Wednesday special and it was delicious! Not overly salty, not greasy, just perfect! Definitely coming back for lunch to try the rest of the menu! I loved that they greet you with a smile, the music and background is nice and calm and before you leave you get a delicious ginger chew for digestion - great place!

  • Darren R.

Hakin is not playing with these juices! I'm hooked!! And the food is A-MAZING! I could easily be a regular at a place like this. I wish for much success for Hakin and hope his great juices and foods attract more people to this natural and healthy lifestyle he promotes. Herbivores, omnivores, carnivores.... Guarantee you'll love the food and juices here regardless which category you believe you fall into.

As a non vegetarian, more like meatetarian..., the food is delicious. I got the vegetarian BBQ and I had a hard time believing the veggie ribs were not meat. I'd definitely go again soon if I didn't live so far.

Oh, Hakin, you make my vegetarian dreams come true! There are so many options on the menu that I couldn't decide what to order. I guess that means I will have to come back for more! I ended up going with the customer favorite, which was the BBQ dinner special. It came with a side of quinoa, beans, and veggies. The BBQ did not disappoint. The seitan "meat" had a nice meaty texture (it wasn't rubbery like at some other places). The sauce was a sweet BBQ sauce- not too much tang. I also loved the beans. They had the soft texture of refried beans but were made with cooked veggies mixed in. Beware: the plate is filling! I wasn't able to finish everything. They have a For a drink, I decided to try the ginger carrot juice. Delicious and refreshing with that ginger zing! For dessert I got some Christy's raw cinnamon rolls to go. I am so glad they carry them here- they are probably my favorite vegan dessert item in Miami. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. I like that the first thing they did was bring me a plate of samples as well as a sample smoothie so I could try out the goods before placing an order. There is also a small market carrying goodies like coconut oil, supplements, snacks, and even some essential oils. I also noticed they have an area for takeout. If I lived in the area, I would definitely take advantage of that. Overall I had a great impression of Hakin. I will definitely return to try some of their other items. I'd love to check out their breakfasts and pizzas! Oh, and I definitely want to try the Philly cheesesteak! And the smoothies. And... Okay so I want to try everything.

The food was ok. The carrot cake was to die for. I got a philly and it was flavorless. Service was good. The atmosphere is chill but the food was a bit bland.

I went here today for a solo lunch and the food is absolutely delicious! The owner, Hakin, is very involved in his business and works with his employees as equals. Everyone in there was so sweet and you could tell that this is the type of place to have many regulars. I had the tropical fiesta smoothie (fresh ingredients no syrup taste) & the Godfather sandwich and I could be full on vegetarian in a heartbeat if I knew how to make alternatives like this! I also had a slice of carrot cake which was great! I definitely would come again

I love this place!! I tried it for the first time and I was really impressed! First off you walk in and you are greeted by someone and they ask you if you would like to try some samples. I had the special of the day which was Vegan Boneless Short Ribs. The sauce on them was amazing! They came with rice and peas, vegetables and this bean paste on the side. It was so amazing. The different textures and the spices really stood out to me from the dish. They serve daily specials and there is also a market at the restaurant. I bought organic pumpkin seeds and I think I'll be back for some chia. They also have different smoothies and juices which I have yet to try. I sat in front of the owner Hakin, and he was very nice, you didn't even have to talk to him to know he was. The waitress was very nice as well. Overall my experience here is one I can not forget and I can't wait until I come back for more!

    (5)

Freshly made food, drinks, and desserts. Sometimes the wait can be a little long, but it's worth it for fresh food. Customer service is good and they are patient with answering any questions about the menu.

Vegetarian spots are far and few in between. Glad I found this one. It's a bit outdated but the food was delicious. I had a Philly Cheese"steak" wrap made from Seitan Wichita is wheat gluten. It had a great consistency and taste plus it just presented well. I would certainly go back. Only reason I could not give it 5 stars was because it's in absolute need of some new furniture!

  • Alexandra B.

If you're craving Caribbean with a healthy flair, this is the place to go. The extensive menu offers a wide variety of options from sample platters to full entrees - all vegan and delicious! Their curry "chicken" is especially scrumptious. Alternatively, if you're like me and not always in the mood for food, their juices and smoothies are also incredible. I recommend the Little Haiti with hemp mylk.

Let's just say yes !!! I really needed to find this place and frequent it when I don't want to cook. My vegetarian and non-vegetarian friends really enjoy the food at this spot. An the owner and the manager were very friendly and helpful. I've had the ackee no salt fist, and some other meals, all legit ! Check this spot out.

  • Isis N.

You don't need to be vegetarian or vegan to enjoy Hakin's food. You just need a soul. Everything in the menu sounds so tantalizing, it's difficult to decide what to order. So, I made myself a favor and had the "Special" of the night, consisting in barbecue "ribs", quinoa, kidney beans, greens and salad, for $12. Hakin himself was answering questions and helping with the food. We were a party of 15 and created a little bit of a commotion in the tiny, yet cozy place. For dessert, I had a vegan carrot cake for $5. It was good, but not excellent. Or is just my palate, that with years had become extremely picky for great carrot cakes. I will definitely come back. Maybe for breakfast next time.

There aren't that many spots in Miami (and when I say that many I mean no more than 3-4) that offer many food options for muchless cater specifically to vegans or vegetarians. I've lived in San Francisco and have visited Portland (OR), Austin, LA and other extremely vegan-friendly cities so I'd like to think I know a thing or four about vegan spots. Anyways this place is AMAZING. The food is great, the girls that work there are really friendly and helpful, they have no problem letting you sample certain items from their menu, you can dine in or take out, and it's also like a mini market for health-conscious individuals. They have teas, snacks, natural products and all kinds of other stuff. They also blend FRESH JUICES. Definitely a spot worth trying! Oh, their homemade vegan chocolate chip cookies are THE BEST!

I was driving back from Doral on 826 (palmetto for us locals) and it was lunch time. Thinking of where to go, it hit me that I havent been here in a while. Came in, was not busy at all. Asked what they had for lunch special, it was a curry fish (vegetarian) with brown rice, beans and greens, sounded good so I ordered for dine in and went to the rest room to clean up. By the time I was back in my seat, lunch came out. Everything tasted great, was very satisfied. Not too much food, just enough. Also, they are open on Saturdays, but they close early (11am). Very cool place to eat healthy, cool vibes. Definitely worth a visit. Come and check it out.

This place is heavenly. The staff is very hospitable and knowledgable about the health benefits of their products. The food is AMAZING. I had a huge juice and their meatless meatballs. You wouldn't even know they're vegan and the portions are more than generous. I will definitely be returning for a bite soon.

Awesome and friendly staff. I spoke with Inez and she gave me a bunch of samples and made the perfect smoothie for me! I can tell by the five different items that I tried that the food is great. The food, alongside the service and nice atmosphere make it a great spot to check out! Don't pass this up!!

I love their golden monkey smoothie. The owner Hakin is also very friendly. My friend was sick and he made her a little ginger drink and after taking that shot her sinus cleared. Awesome customer service and food is delicious! Can't ask for more.

I been long awaiting to come and dine at Hakin Vegetarian! I drive by almost everyday to work in Sunny Isles Beach, and was dying to come in for lunch to see what the fuss was all about. I was happy to hear everything on the menu is 100% vegan. I ordered the white monkey smoothie (added passion fruit) and this is exactly what I was craving. For lunch I ordered the Godfather Sandwitch. It was a tad small, and a little on the cold side for a hot sandwich, but was tasty overall. The owner, Hakin, is great. There is always a huge smile on his face when you walk in. Very welcoming. In the front is a nice little display of vegan cupcakes, Jamaican patties, and other healthy snacks and goodies. If you love heath-conscious, organic, vegan food, this is one of the best I've tried so far!

All vegan, very good. The people that work there are so friendly. They had many gluten free options and if something wasnt Already gluten free they will make substitutions to make it gluten free for you. My friend and I both got the meetball sub sandwich, but mine was made into a gluten free version. It was delicious! And the sweet potato fries are really yummy! I will definitely be back!

This place is PHENOMENAL. YOU DONT NEED TO BE A VEGETARIAN TO ENJOY THESE HOME COOKED RECIPES. The staff is extremely friendly, and let's you try samples of their dishes so you can decide what you'll enjoy the most. We had a Latte Chimp smoothie with nut butter, followed by two Caribbean style bbq empanadas, and the jalapeño and ginger chicken grilled cheese sliders.

Came here with a large group and our meal was still served flawlessly. We started off with samples of their daily special :BBQ seitan ribs, sauteed spinach, flavored rice, and quinoa. We also sampled the White Monkey smoothie which was quite tasty. For my entree I ordered the Vietnamese sandwich. It was made with Gong pao vegan chicken, cucumbers, cilantro, cabbage and spicy mayo. Very fresh and tasty. For $2 more I added fresh fries. My friend ordered the "Inspiration of Green" gourmet pizza. Served with kale, edamame, and Feta. They were out of feta and served it with Daiya mozzerella cheese. Some others in our group had the daily special which they enjoyed immensely. I saw some people trying the fresh carrot cake and red velvet cake. I had left no room for dessert! Overall, the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The food was fresh, tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. Hakin himself was outside answering questions, taking food orders, and conversing with all of us. Will definitely be back to try more of Hakin's creations.

Good vegetarian and gluten free selections on the menu. Very tasty for a non-vegetarian like me. Staff is helpful and tries to please all their customers but doesn't get it right sometimes. Overall enjoyable meal each time I go there.

Don't be fooled by the appearance. Large menu to choose from. Blown away! Come in and try anything. You will enjoy. We had Philly cheese steak and godfather meatball sub with sweet potato fries. Sugar cane juice mixtures. AMAZING... took a pack of cinnamon rolls to go.

This food is great! The staff is very friendly and will tell you what are the customer favorites or what they recommend. The owner seems to be a nice guy, too. It's not inexpensive (my meal for myself was $20 +), though.

EVERYTHING IS GOOOOOOOOOD! No Joke! vegan cupcakes, tufo eggs, blueberry pancakes, philly cheesestake This is a spectacular restaurant if your switching to a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. The also have a payment plan! And next door is the market....vitamins, produce, products. Its truley a one stop shop for healthy living. on a scale of 10 I give it a 12! The owner is cute too!

I am really impressed. The food was completely vegan and totally delicious. We came for breakfast and it was amazing. Best tofu scramble I've ever had. The pancakes were filling and delicious. If you're ever interested in trying something new the food here while vegan is way better than non-vegan food. They've done a great job. I'll definitely be back.

Not gonna lie: As Stephanie W. said, the restaurant physically is not great looking and indeed, the service is not particularly great. But the food was made in timely fashion and it was delicious -- and it is not easy to find meatless food that is great tasting. I ordered the No-Bull Vegan BBQ Rib Sandwich, which came in (I believe) a French baguette with a fresh salad on the side. I wish it would've been bigger, because it was very good! One would never be able to tell it wasn't meat, yet of course you don't have that heavy feeling after eating meat that makes you all sleepy. I needed caffeine, so I paired my sandwich with a frozen coffee drink that has dates and cashews in it. I know it sounds weird, but it was chunky and yummy. The coffee could be a little less sweet, though. I also ordered a no-glutten red velvet cupcake to go, which I honestly had very low expectations of, but admittedly, it was quite moist. They also sell vitamins and herbs. I think it's a good vegetarian option, although I find it somewhat pricey, especially considering it's such a casual spot. Free parking upfront. Closed on Saturdays.

Such a great experience. I can't wait to return, possibly today for a second time. I've been on the hunt for vegan pancakes. Found this place and of course me being late I called around 11.45 asking if breakfast was still being served and the gentleman on the phone said they would start preparing them then before all the breakfast items were packed up because I was en route. My visit to the restaurant was short due to them being ready 2 minutes after I walked in the door. But I will definitely done here again. The pancakes and tofu scramble were delicious. Such great customer service from start to finish.

My first time here and I had the breakfast Scrambled curry tofu and veggies with Seiten sausage and a mango, coconut, and pineapple smoothie! It was delicious and I plan on making an event for other to try this local gem as well. I'm not too familiar with what to get but the owner and employees were very patient and helpful. What a great find for me. Love it!

Very yummy vegetarian restaurant. I've had the meatball meal with jake and rice which is yummy. Also a carrot chocolate chip cookie which was delicious!

This place is a definite hole in the wall. The guy working was very pleasant and recommended the special of the day which was the curried "chicken." I substituted the quinoa for the rice and waited around 5 minutes for my order. When I got my order, I was excited to see that their helpings were pretty big. The curry sauce was really yummy and it the combo of that with curry sauce was yummy. He also served it with a little salad that I didn't really care for, but the curried chicken makes the drive from Brickell a worth cause.

I found this place for my vegetarian friend. This is the first time we've been here. The servers are so friendly and brought us delicious ginger and BBQ vege chicken. The sandwiches, smoothies, pizzas we ordered were all so yummy!!!! We will definitely back again ;)

Great place to eat. Everything is vegan, tastes delicious. The owner is very personable. They have fresh juices and smoothies. One of my favorites was the Philly cheese. Can't wait to go again. I left feeling so full.

I moved to South Florida from Boston and have been looking for vegetarian friendly restaurants. There were so many options up north. So I was excited when I found this place. My husband and I gave it a try for lunch. When we walked in I felt depressed by the interior. It was sparse and didn't inspire my confidence. We ordered a couple of sandwiches which sounded good but were disappointing. The biggest shock? The price. I felt like this was outrageously priced for what you get - I think we paid over $30 for two sandwiches and two natural sodas. I sadly won't be back here again even though I support the idea of what they're doing. The execution just wasn't stellar. And if I remember correctly you get plastic utensils and paper plates. I understand they might not have a dishwashing set up, but a lot of vegetarians also care about the environment.

Count me among the many fans of this place. Had the bbq "rib" special and I was blown away. The flavor, texture and look of the food was exceptional enough to motivate me to write this review as soon as I finished inhaling my meal. I will definitely be back - wish I'd discovered sooner.

The food is good but the prices are TOO EXPENSIVE! Everything in there cost an arm and a leg. The atmosphere is like a small market slash dine-in but mostly market. You have to budget before going in there.

This was the first veg restaurant I visited while in Miami. There were reviews that said it was the best in the area, so we had to try it. If you are looking for a fake meat kind of vegetarian restaurant, this is a great place, however, I felt like I didn't see much else on there that was not a meat-substitute dish. Some people really like that--it's just not for me. The fresh pressed juices were amazing! The service was friendly, albeit very slow.

I've held off reviewing this restaurant for a while. I've eaten there several time over a span of time. The service is outstanding. Everyone there is friendly, grounded, kind, and knowledgable. Hakim (owner) is often there. Daily there are specials cafeteria style. I've eaten many, and all are fantastic. It's Nutritionally balanced Vegan food. The specials though lack in my opinion the featured food, I.e curried nuggets. Yes there are a few (3) but the main draw (special) should see more of the special item. Last time through I ordered the Vietnamese sandwich, which was good, but.... Too much bread to sandwich ingredient ratio. More of the ingredients of the sandwich would be better. Seems to be the M.O here. The special, not as much as I'd like, the sandwich not as much ingredients, but still amazing food. Deserts are vegan out of this world, and I'm not a dessert person. They have juices and smoothies as well, and do a great business on those, though I've only had samples. The samples are always good. I'll keep going here when I am in town, just hoping more of the main draw (specials) are served in terms of quantity. Feels like you get a taste, but not much else.

First time at Hakins for Sunday brunch, we had the tofu scramble and pancakes banana and chocolate chip. Everyting was delicious, service was kind and friendly, definitely one can feel only good vibes from this cozy, very unique setting. Even the non-vegan loved and devoured the vegetarian fish with Akee. Will definitely come back for more !

The food is awesome, but you know that already. My first time, but I know I'll be back. Closer than my usual spot. Love the biodegradable take out container! BTW had the special, bbq "chicken". Love that they sell natural products, incense... Trying dessert next time.

I've been living in Washington DC for over a year. I surrounded by vegetarian/vegan restaurants these days... but I'd kill for a falafel burger from Hakin. If you are in SoFla, don't miss this spot! Now I'll admit, this isn't the type of spot to take a first date, but it's a place you should go support. The North Miami area needs more vegan/vegetarian options at an affordable price.

07/25/2014. I ate here again today (I would eat here every day if it was closer to me!). I had the delicious special of the day, which was curry coconut tofu - it came with a heaping portion of rice, black beans, and a yummy little salad. This food is the BEST - it was fresh and delicious and a LOT of food for only $10. We also had a piece of vegan pineapple cake for dessert. OMG - soooo good! Our server is always the same tall, young, African-American kid. He is just SO unbelievably nice and helpful and friendly - he is truly an asset to this restaurant. At the end of our meal, another young man took over, who was just as nice. The place is clean and friendly and well-kept. It's in a strip-type mall, but don't judge a book by it's cover - as soon as you get inside, it's very pleasant. Parking is free in a lot right in front. Go here, go soon - even if you are a meat-eater. It is really delicious! I'll be back, for sure! See the picture I posted from today - the food IS as good as it looks! _____________________________ My other review: 10 words or less: Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic. Eat here! Trust me! Now, my wordy review. This is my new favorite vegan restaurant anywhere! It's been here a long time, but I just discovered it. It was the best food I have ever had. I tried a lot of the things on the menu, and each one was better than the next! I started with Jamaican Veggie Patty with Ackee. Oh, it was SO delicious. It's an appetizer and big enough to share with a friend if you are also getting a regular meal. It was so hearty and tasty! Next time, I won't be sharing it with anyone! I then ordered the "No-Bull Vegan Bar-B-Que Ribs Sandwich". It is served on a wheat baguette and was simply out of this world. The "meat" was so tender and flavorful. It came with a beautiful salad with dark greens and carrots, etc. It was plenty of food. In between the courses, my server brought us a sampling of a delicious strawberry / pineapple smoothie. The little sample left me wanting more! It was very good. My friend had a fantastic full meal. It was the Wednesday special of Curried Chicken Vegan Nuggets. It came with a lot of other good stuff - a salad, some delicious rice, cabbage that was so good, and something called soya. I don't know what soya is, but it was amazing; it was like a little stew with soy meat in it! I could really go on and on about the food, but you get the picture. Everything was delicious and very fresh tasting. Our server was a wonderful young man who was quick to explain everything on the menu. The service was really great. We were given a sample of a fantastic coconut thing for dessert. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was good. There are several choices of vegan desserts, we were just too full to order anything else. There are a lot of tables inside, and it is also a store filled with lots of healthy stuff to buy. It was very clean. Parking is free in front of the restaurant; no problem there. I can't wait to go back here. Miami lacks great vegan places and I so glad to have a new place to eat. I enjoyed it immensely. Oh, and the prices are great. Everything was very reasonably priced; my sandwich was $9.75, and my friend's huge meal was only $9.95 - the value is superb. DIRECTIONS: Ok, there seems to be issues about finding this place; I had no problem at all. It's only a couple blocks east of I-95 on 167th Street. If you are going towards I-95 (west) on 167th Street, turn into the parking lot before the Wendy's and the restaurant is right in front of you (strip mall with a white barrel-tile roof). If you get to North Miami Avenue, you've gone too far (the Wendy's is on the corner of N Miami Ave and 167th). It you are going away from I-95 (east) on 167th, make a U-turn on NE 2nd Avenue - go up a block, then, again, turn in before the Wendy's. It's on the north side of 167th Street.

Great food. Full belly. Emptied wallet... Great place to get conscious food. Friendly and Attentive staff. However, all those little things like juices and appetizers quickly add up. For newbies, I strongly suggest the Vegetarian CheeseSteak sandwich :) Despite the price - I keep going back - because it is quite good.

The place looks a mess but the food was outstanding! Everything is vegan and delicious. Had the stewed fish, beans, and quinoa - beans were my fav. Had the sandwich sampler - philly cheese steak was excellent even with the daiya cheese! Can't wait to go back. Only 4 stars because they need to clean this place up as it looks so cluttered. Random crap stacked up in a pile in the back. People just sitting around. Decor does not match the caliber of the food.

This place is a winner! I went with some folks that are not used to vegan food, and they were impressed as well. Right off the bat I was in Cloud 9 with the service. Our waiter asked us if we were first timers, and gave us samples (of entrees and drinks) throughout our stay. "Our STAY"? Yes, I felt like an honored guest here. I ordered a sunburger, which is seeds and such. Fantastic, and I was very impressed with the vegan cheese, since I know it can be hit or miss. My burger was on point, my mates' food (ribs, black beans and rice, sandwiches) was well-seasoned. And like I said, the service was bar-none. I was blown away. The only annoyance was hearing the blender going pretty loudly, as the place is small and open. Vegetarian Restaurant has a hippie diner feel, with diner booth seating and a small shop in the restaurant for all your hippie needs: Black African soap, liquid aminos, vegan baked goods, all that good stuff. The crowd is mostly 20-somethings just relaxing and enjoying a great hang-out. It's a small place, but cozy and welcoming. To your health, and this restaurant's continued success!

Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin is an interesting place, to say the least. I have been dying to find a place that serves vegan comfort food, and this is it! They have a nice variety of Caribbean-influenced menu items that changes every day, and their "fake meat" is actually edible. I am not a fan of tofu and substitutes of that nature, but this place does it right. There were quite a bit of people at the restaurant when I went on a weekday. Despite the awful location, they apparently do well and have been open for 3 years now, which is a testament to their great food. Not a skinny, hippie vegan in sight lol. Just regular people from all walks of life enjoying their food after a long day of work. For anyone who thinks that vegetarianism is a niche fad for rich white people, or that is not catching on with other cultures, come check this melting pot out. The food is accessible and, best of all, affordable. Note: People are not kidding when they say this place is tricky to find. Google Maps told me it was in the same plaza as the nearby Burger King, but it is not. Drive slowly when you're in the area so you don't pass it, as you may want to avoid the hassle of making an unnecessary u-turn.

south florida is lacking in vegan restaurants so i was totally excited to visit a vegetarian restaurant i haven't already been to. normally i don't leave bad reviews because i feel bad, but i was so disappointed that this place had all five star reviews when it really doesn't deserve them. the service was terrible. why is there a server on the floor that doesn't know the menu? the restaurant itself is unorganized and confusing and really not pretty on the eyes. not that that matters but then the food was also sub par so ech. i'll never go back. as much as i can't stand sublime anymore... i'd rather eat there for the ambiance and good service even if the food isn't really worth the money. my boyfriend had the philly. his sweet potato fries were cold and soggy. the sandwich really didn't look that good. my "sandwich sampler" came out as a philly cut into four pieces - which i sent back (which i NEVER send anything back) because what was the point of a sampler if it's all the same sandwich? WTF?!?!?!? so i ordered the bbq "chicken" pizza which they were out of bbq so i had ginger "chicken" on the bbq pizza which took an additional 30 minutes. when we got up to pay the employees completely ignored us. these people need to get it together or they will be out of business by the end of the year. if you've been to sublime, darbster or christopher's kitchen... you'll be disappointed in this place. don't bother.

The staff, the service, and the food were all exceptional! EVERY person working there, that I saw, welcomed me with a genuine smile and was ready to give me an educated answer to any question I had. I was very impressed with our waiter (Malik) and the owner because they were so friendly, educational, and flexible (they wanted to customize our experience to be the best), This is a gourmet vegetarian/vegan restaurant with delicious food that included not your typical things and kept us wanting to come back for more. The portion size was surprisingly "regular size"--larger than expected to receive for vegetarian/vegan food. We WILL be back to try their breakfast, on another day maybe have lunch, and definitely for dinner again to try something else on their menu (that changes daily--it's written on a whiteboard). They also have a small store with many different things (food, healthy alternatives, and a massage chair).

Really, I would vote this place higher if I could. Everything you could expect from a good vegan place: it's clean, the food is outstanding, and the people are friendly. I remember going there years back on a Thanksgiving night, back when Hakin first opened up. I brought a non-vegetarian, and even she said it was great. The place has obviously done well over the years, and the offerings have expanded to now offer Vegan Cupcakes!! The smoothies are great. But I just had this new sandwich, kind of a po'boy called the Vietnamese. So effin good!

As a vegan, it is SO nice to find a place that you can order ANYTHING on the menu. Every time I have been here the food has been delicious and the people super friendly. The desserts here are HANDS DOWN the BEST vegan desserts I have had in Miami and the best chocolate cake I have had ANYWHERE! As the others have said, don't be put off by its appearance. The food quality and selection trumps the dated plaza it's in. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or just enjoy healthy, tasty food, juices and smoothies...stop in this restaurant and grab a bite ASAP.

The vegan dining scene in Miami was surprisingly lacking until we found Vegetarian by Hakin. Everything is made from scratch, and fresh that day, so there are specials, but no set menu. The owner was so friendly & welcoming, and even let us sample certain dishes before ordering. The food was mind-blowing. I am still talking about my veggie burger with the coconut bread, and coconut tofu. It was one of the highlights of my vacation, and the only restaurant I visited I would go back to. Also, I am still trying to find sugar cane juice in Chicago. The decor is very basic, but really the food speaks for itself. It is reasonably priced compared to other vegetarian restaurants, and they're open late which is a major plus.

We had the vegan fish but my friend and I came very late about 30 minutes from closing and order two vegan fish and the fish special was cold, maybe they had put the food away before they close but overall the service was great, food taste good, but my first experience there eating cold vegan fish was not good,

I'm not a vegetarian but my friend is so we found this place because of the high ratings. It did not disappoint! I had half of a BBQ rib sandwich and half of a Philly cheese steak. I loved the rib sandwich more than the steak. I am a meat eater!!!!

This place was hands down the most friendly place ever! On top of that my family is vegan and finding tasty vegan food is very challenging! The food here exceeded our expectations. The flavor was superb and the faux meats deceptively real! The gluten free pizza crust was so yummy! The Philly cheesesteak sandwich superb. The pancakes awesome! And if you like barbecue try theirs! We had eaten at Sublime in Ft. lauderdale the night before and this place surpassed it by far! If you are vegan or not this place is not to be missed! You will leave with a full belly and a smile!

Absolutely delicious vegan options!! Their juices are awesome, and their green pizza is to die!!! The service feels out of this city. Being from Southern California, I am used to a more slow-paced, chill environment; this place does that.

I have to say, being a very carnivorous person, that this place never fails to impress me. The tofu that is "meat" tasting, I never feel like I lose my opportunity. Now you are probably wondering what the heck is a meat-lover doing commenting on this page. Well the simple answer is that my wife was a vegetarian before, so she craves an all veggie fix from time to time. Now as for the dishes available, it's pretty cool because it seems to be a meal-per-day where they kinda cook 1-2 dishes per day. It keeps it interesting because if you really want to try the tofu meatballs you should go on Monday, where as on Friday and Saturday they tend to have more "spicy chicken" type of tofu. I'm amazed at how good the quality of the food is. On top of the food being good, Hakin and company are very nice and welcoming people. They close at 9, but sat us down around 9:35 pm to watch the Heat game and enjoy a nice cooked meal. They make you feel like family and before you know it you are exchanging stories and telling jokes, and smelling that amazing food that you know is on the way. It's obviously not oily or greasy, very healthy feeling (from a person with a slow digestive tract) and the price is always right. Great food, and great service! A rare thing in Miami.

We could not have been more impressed with Hakin, his staff and the food. FIVE STARS! The genuine kindness from those that work here is awesome and cannot wait to come back to enjoy breakfast. We may live in Boca Raton, but we'll make a special trip just for the experience! Great Job Hakin Alexander!!!

Season rice and meatless meatballs! Wow out of this world! I was clueless to the different degrees and variety to vegan dishes. Hakin's Restaurant made me really explore a different eating lifestyle. They made me question everthing i eat and drank. Im still stuck in my old ways of eating fast food at times, but i see myself cutting back alot! With the multitude of dishes and flavors Hakin provides I am never bored. And when I leave the restaurant i feel a sense of peace that I feed my body the right meal to go through the day. A healthy body is a happy mind!

i had a vegan friend whom i alwaysed promised that whenever we are together i will make or find completely vegan meals for the both of us to share. and for those out there, you know thats a little challenging to come across, cuz sadly, theres not much out there. so a few years ago i searched for vegan restaurants in miami and came across this quaint little restaurant. and man was i super happy that i found it. hakin is a beautiful soul. what he has created with this restaurant to transforms this deep, bold, rich flavors, tricking us by producing a completely meatless meal, is truly an art. a wonderfully, delicious, spicy art. everything on the menu, from his jerk chicken, to the philly cheese steak, to the barbeque prime rib, and also not forgetting the tastey side dishes that compliments those crazy and mind-blowing flavors. have that with a super good and super simple blueberry and banana soy smoothie; all to just put the hugest smile on your face. well first its more like: "are you sure this has no meat in it? naw, stop lying to me dude", and then make you say, well if i could have food like this everyday, i would gladly throw my carnivore flag up in the air and join team vegan! and aside from the delicious food, the wonderful hakin with the gordeous smile, has also turned his restaurant into a small but cute health food store. where you will find vitamin supplements, all kinds a awesome teas for liver detox, digestive calming teas, weight loss supplements, natural energy boosters, theraputic oils, tastey healthy snacks for your kids to munch on and a lot more. and...come in a saturday night and they have a little party in the back. overall if you step foot into this place, have no fear about eating something that you think you won't enjoy, yet have faith, cuz hakin and the rest of his employees will gladly take care of you and make you think twice about team vegan. :)

See my profile for the location of my blog with more pics and a full review. This is my second visit to Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin. This time I did meet the tall man himself and 2 others there and of course had another wonderful meal and great conversation with the staff and other diners. The website still isn't up but there is a little more here: ingaambrosia.com/hakin/i… Unobtrusive, at the end of a strip mall, you need to know you're looking for this place if you're going to find it. I bet very few people out for a lunchtime, "where are we going to eat?" drive find this place. It's not easy to see as there are trees between the parking lot and the street and it's the last storefront and you're already past the driveway when it comes into view. It's on a 6 lane street with an island so turnaround isn't easy either. The menu is on a dry erase board and I knew walking in that I wanted a green drink and a chicken or beef pie. The entree was up in the air but last time I had a delicious Philly Cheese Steak and that thought was starting to make my mouth water. Ackee taste. First we had a taste of the Ackee. Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica and is commonly served in a dish called Ackee and Saltcod. I found the flavor interesting and to tell you the truth I would have to taste it again to describe the flavor accurately. The consistency was a bit gelatinous, not unpleasant but not a "meaty" feel. Since this was a week ago the flavor profile has faded but I remember it being worth another taste. I shared half and this was after my first bite. Why can't every bakery serve a vegan dish like this? The Chicken pie was wonderful. The crust is very flaky and encases a soft and pulpy delicious interior. There are bites of corn and peas mixed in with a ground up chickenish mixture. It doesn't have a very overpowering or strong leaning of flavor in one direction or another but I found it delicious. My friend was less impressed with this than the ackee. Opened for display, this is half a sandwich. Yes, I again forgot to take a picture before chowing down but realized half way through. This is one of the best Vegan Philly Cheese Steaks made. I believe that more than 50% of a sandwich is the bread. This is a perfect french bread that has a moist and absorbent crumb and a very crispy crust. The sandwich itself is made of almost a "pulled" soy protein in a rich gravy with onions and peppers. It has and incredible mouthfeel and although I haven't had a real Philly Cheese Steak sandwich in about a hundred years I would put this up against the real thing in a heartbeat. My buddy had the White Monkey to drink which was Mango, Banana, and Soy milk. It was delicous, smooth and creamy. I had the Go Green! It was green apples, celery, cucumber and wheatgrass. It was exactly what I needed but was a rather watery drink. The apples added a bit of sweetness to the wheatgrass bitterness but I think something to thicken it up would have ratcheted it a bit. The other pilot with me said he totally enjoyed his tofu scramble sandwich which came on the same french bread and that he would definitely go back, even if I wasn't with him. Now that's an endorsement from a staunch omnivore.

I went to dinner here tonight (July 16th). Second night out for dinner in a row--I'd better chill!! But I came here because my friend wanted to make up for last night's fiasco (see my previous review--July 15, 2012). Based on all the reviews here, I was pretty excited. We arrived for dinner and were the only ones there. The hours on a website state they close at 7pm. They have extended their hours to 9pm Mon - Thurs. Fridays they close at 4pm. No Sat hours. Open Sunday. The menu has daily specials, sandwiches, juices and smoothies. I wanted the Ackee but it's only served Sundays (I'll have to come back). Monday's special involved curried fish with either rice or quinoa, black beans, salad and veggie chunks in a dark gravy--all on one plate. I liked it, but not spicy enough for my taste buds. If you like spice, they have either hot sauce or cayrenne pepper. The quinoa was the best thing on the plate. The fish was not bad, just not flavorful enough. The sauce that covered it was nice, though. Runner up was the veggie chunks. Not so much because it resembled meat, but for the flavor. I finished all of it. Salad was 3rd. I also had a shot of spirulina. I didn't want to have the smoothie for fear that I wouldn't have room for the meal. Either way, I couldn't finish my food. There was no more room left in my stomach, so I had to skip the dessert offered by our server. My friend managed to finish everything on his plate. The olympic basketball game was playing on a tv parked high in the ceiling corner. We were allowed by owner Hakim to stay there and watch while waiting for the pouring rain to stop. There is also a mini store in the entrance as well, with all-natural products for sale. Parking is ample right outside the door. My complaint was that the food was already prepared and taken from trays, buffet style. I was hoping for some "made-to-order" food. Also,my food got cold rather quickly. But it wasn't bad. I'll be back for the ackee soon.

Ooof. That was NASSSSTY! Went there because a coworker had read about it here in Yelp. Asked for their special burger. It was dry as a piece of cardboard and, what's more amazing, not only did it have the same dryness... it had the same texture and the same flavor! Amazing how they were able to duplicate cardboard. The lettuce that came with the "salad" was DOA; the glass of water was warm (a sin in South Florida) and the place is awful. Next time a co-worker suggests Hakin's veggie place, you know what, I'd rather eat at a McD's. That's how bad it is.

Hot out of the oven spinach pattie, bowl of deeply flavored kidney bean soup. Just a touch of sea salt made it perfect. Really good dumplings were also in it. Tofu wrap filled an assortment of roasted veggies & tofu blended together and wrapped in a toasted tomato wrap. I had the bar- b-que rib sandwich. Great flavor, texture to the "meat" the sauce was rich with depth of flavor. An excellent dining experience. We both left with a dogie bag.

I LOVE Vegetarian Restaurant. Really nice people, really great food, awesome energy in the environment! I especially love the bbq seitan and the philly cheese steak sandwiches. It also comes with a side salad and they have yummy vegan ranch dressing. They always have special entrees and sides every day, that are delicious.

This is a very rasa type of place. They have GREAT vegan desserts that actually taste very good. The whole wheat jamaican patties took a little getting used to. I'm used to the traditional one's and the whole wheat is thicker, but the stuffing was very tasty. Hakim's juices are the best! I fell in love with green apple and wheatgrass. It was so delicious. His wheat grass is the best that I've had anywhere. You can taste the difference between wheatgrass that has been grown indoor and one that has been grown out doors. There's a cleaner, less 'slimy' taste to it. I'd rather buy from him than go to Java Juice or Whole Foods. Of note: Hakim's has movies once a week. They often do other events too. He also keeps small specialty products too. He often sells Black African soap bars, fragrance oils, body care products, and other 'whole' products which always interest me. I never walk out of there without indulging in something that smells nice.

Surprisingly good. I am not a vegetarian nor vegan. However I wanted to try something light and nutritional for lunch today and caught wind of this vegetarian restaurant. You will not be impressed by the plaza and with the decor inside. It is very unusual layout and you have to actually make your way around grocery stands to get your table. I had the lunch special which was curried "fish" Which was actually seitan. At first I felt it was a rather small portion of the fish, but after finishing the entire plate which also included rice, beans, and salad I was completely satisfied. The lunch special is $9.95. I also tried a spinach empanada which was three dollars. Water is self-service as they have a small dispenser you have to get up and get it yourself. The food here was so good that I actually have to give it four stars although I hated the Decor and the plaza it was in. I did glance at the rest of the menu and noticed that most of their smoothies were almost in the $10 range for a large. Their pizzas were also in the $17 range and they look to be a single serving pie. You could easily spend $30 for lunch here for pizza and a smoothie with nothing else. So the verdict is the food is good but stick to the lunch special and skip the frills as it will run up your bill very quickly.

How did I not know about this place? I had vegan "ribs", which tasted better than the real thing! I also had a great juice made with beets and ginger. And to finish a piece of vegan red velvet cake that was to die for! Staff was incredibly friendly, especially the girl that welcomed me and also Edwin, who answered all of my questions and was always there making sure I was enjoying my meal...I will definitely go back for more!!

Don't let the strip mall exterior scare you. This place is awesome. My only regret...not knowing about it when I lived in Miami. It will definitely be on my "must eat" list every time I visit Miami. I had the pleasure of eating here for lunch today for the first time. I had the sorrel and ginger juice which was so good. Sorrel is definitely not something you find in Chicago. I also had the special plate of the day which had millet, seitan served two different ways, black beans, and a little side salad. Everything had so much flavor. Very Caribbean! I also had a lovely conversation with Hakin. I found everyone that worked there to be incredibly nice and accommodating. It's also always fun when have a lovely conversation with another patron about the vegan restaurants to frequent in other cities. Being veg is so fun!
